Electrolube phase change materials are specialist high performance thermal interface materials which are easily applied via screen printing. During use, the temperature of the device increases until it reaches the ‘phase-change’ temperature. The material then changes state (phase change) back to a more traditional paste improving thermal conductivity.

Phase change materials are materials that change state from solid form to liquid and back again. The solid material absorbs heat until it reaches its softening point, whereby it reverts back to a softer material with fluid-like characteristics, conforming to the contours of the interface and ensuring the most efficient heat transfer. This process is particularly useful as a thermal management technique and Electrolube have developed a specialist range designed specifically as thermal interface materials. The ‘activated’ phase change material has exceptionally high thermal conductivity, dissipating heat away from the electronic components to the heatsink or other cooling device.

We would advise that you test any product you select thoroughly, as each application will vary from the next and figures quoted on a TDS may not match the results in the ‘real’ operating environment.

TPM350 is one of Electrolube's latest high-performance product innovations in our thermal interface material range.

It is designed for easy application via screen printing, containing a small amount of solvent which evaporates after application to leave a cured material in place. This eliminates the mess associated with thermal pastes or greases. The material changes viscosity (phase change) once it reaches its activation temperature of 50°C ensuring efficient thermal transfer during operating conditions, minimizing contact thermal resistance, and returning to its cured state once it cools down again.

This phase change allows for a vast array of application scenarios while it also has an exceptional thermal conductivity value of 3.5W/m.K.
